Research is Being Conducted with U of A to Test Neck Strength using the CAP RAM

Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta – June 27th, 2017 – CAP (Concussion Active Prevention) Corporation began as a partnership between Gemini SWIFT Learning and Subject Matter Expert, Sherwin Ganpatt to develop online courses teaching a neck strengthening and structural balance program to reduce the risk of concussions. This led to designing the CAP RAM machine to measure the biomechanics that occur prior to traumatic brain injuries. The data collected was used to develop strength training protocols to transform an athlete’s body into protective armour to prevent concussions. Thus, the CAP Program was launched and they are now conducting research with Dr. Hossein Rouhani at the University of Alberta to demonstrate the CAP Program’s efficiency in reducing the risk of concussion.

Dr. Hossein Rouhani, with the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Alberta stated that, “The unique feature of our proposed testing system and biomechanical analysis is its predictive value: We do not need to have an athlete experience an actual concussive impact to evaluate the effectiveness of his/her strength training on the risk of concussion. It is the first time that such an innovative, affordable system enables coaches to safely and objectively evaluate the strength training and thus opens horizons to utilize an optimal training protocol that minimizes the incidence of concussions in contact sports”.

CAP Co-Founder Sherwin Ganpatt commented “Preventing concussions is not about changing the sport, it’s about changing the athlete. The bottom line is that athletes need an entirely new method of conditioning to be resistant to the demands of their sport. The CAP program puts the tools, training, and control in the hands of coaches to make that happen”.

“There is a need to implement standards at all levels of sports for the prevention of concussions. Our goal is to move the theoretical science from the laboratories into the hands of coaches to injury-proof athletes of all ages and levels from amateur to professional. We also wanted a business model that would fund amateur sports and research. The CAP Program only requires 30 athletes to set up, and, we dedicate 30% of revenues to our social enterprise to fund amateur sports and research and, 20% to the organization,” added CEO of Gemini SWIFT Learning and CAP Co-Founder Kim Adolphe.

About CAP Corporation

CAP™ Corp was founded on the principle that preventing concussions is not about changing the sport, it’s about changing the athlete. CAP puts control in the hands of coaches and athletes at all levels of sport and allows us to gather valuable data to utilize for future research studies, new products, protocols, and services. The CAP program is comprised of the CAP RAM machine, a patented 5D neck testing machine, online neck strength training courses, an award winning, advanced neurological testing system – Brain Gauge, and a cloud-based management and tracking system. CAP Corp is a social enterprise that funds amateur sports and concussion research by working closely with leading scientists at Universities, Government, and Private Institutes.
