Calgary, Alberta – November 28, 2017 – CAP Corp presented our concussion prevention research that provides new hope to reduce the overall amount of concussions that are occurring in sports. Conducted with the University of Alberta, we developed a unique device that measures the activity of the deep cervical neck flexors which is critical in how athletes handle sport impacts. Using our patented CAP RAM technology, we can now train our athletes to a measurable protective standard of strength to allow them to safely partake in their sports.
Our research studied the contribution of individual neck muscles on the reduction of angular head acceleration. We identified that there is a clear relationship between neck stabilization in simulated contact and different qualities of strength. We developed a training protocol that provides these benefits. This research was presented to a group of stakeholders from the private sector, non profits, amateur and professional sport clubs, and government dignitaries in Calgary.
